Irene Haskins holds Bachelors and Master of Arts degrees in mathematics from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master of Science degree in applied mathematics from the University of Colorado. Irene has extensive tutoring background, including nine years with the St. Vrain Adult Education program in Colorado and tutoring in the Learning Center at Husson University.
Frank Hubbard, Ph.D., a graduate of Amherst College and University of California, Berkeley, has taught test preparation for ten years and has been an educator for thirty. A former Fulbright scholar, Frank is currently Dean of Science and Humanities at Husson University in Bangor. He specializes in SAT, ACT, GRE, and SSAT prep, along with the SAT Literature subject test.
A recent Maine Prep student writes: ”"My name is Max Reiter and I’m a senior at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, Maine. Last year I studied privately in Bangor with Frank Hubbard of Maine Prep, covering everything from essay help to sentence corrections to time management. The techniques I learned were things I had never even heard of before and were vastly different from those of the SAT study guide books. This preparation through Maine Prep produced great results; my scores went from a 1900 (on the pre-test) to a final cumulative total of 2230 (with the biggest differences coming in critical reading, a 150 point difference, and writing, a 140 point difference). In addition, I took this course around the time that I took the PSATs and my preparation from this course led me to be named a National Merit Scholar (which has in turn led to many scholarship opportunities). Further, Frank and the other people we worked with were as nice as can be and extremely supportive. As a result of this course, I was recently accepted to the University of Pennsylvania. My family and I strongly endorse Maine Prep and its techniques!”
